drug litter and anti-social behaviour at Hilly Fields Park

Dear Cllr Alexandrou and Cllr Fox,

‍I am writing to bring a specific problem at Hilly Fields Park to your attention and request action.

‍In summary, our assessment found a concentration of discarded nitrous oxide canisters alongside other litter and drug-related paraphernalia, only metres from an area used by families and children. Nitrous oxide is now a Class C drug; the canisters present a real laceration and pressurised-gas hazard to children and dogs, and the other observed litter volume suggests this is recurrent anti-social use rather than a one-off.

‍I recognise the new administration has committed to a cleaner borough and to protecting Enfield's green spaces, and I hope this evidence is genuinely useful to that aim. I would be grateful if you could:

‍ ‍‍1. Arrange for the area to be cleared safely, with any sharps or drug items handled by the appropriate team;

‍ ‍2. Consider preventative measures for these hotspots, including plain clothes police officers and bright lighting;

‍Please confirm what steps the Council will take, and by when.
